Vazhakkai Sadham


Vazhakkai Sadham is a simple yet delicious South Indian rice dish made with raw bananas (plantains) and aromatic spices. Infused with the goodness of Iyer Paati Masala, this dish is mildly spiced, nutritious, and perfect for a meal. It pairs with papad.

Ingredients

  • Raw Banana (Vazhakkai) - 1, peeled & grated
  • Oil or Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tsp
  • Chana Dal - 1 tsp
  • Green Chilies - 1-2, chopped
  • Curry Leaves - A few
  • Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp
  • Red Chili Powder - ½ tsp
  • Iyer Paati Sambar Podi - ½ tsp (for extra flavor)
  • Asafoetida (Hing) - A pinch
  • Salt - To taste
  • Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp (optional, for a mild sweetness)
  • Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp, chopped (for garnish)
